Welcome to Blueberry Pie Crumbs
Pie Diner & Design Shop
…With the help of water and sunlight, plants produce the air we breathe while making and eating their own food, which is sugar…which means dessert…yum!
Artisanal Micro Bakery and Fairy-Punk Design Shop serving all things Celtic-Canadian on the traditional territory of Michi Saagiig, Chippewa, and Algonquin Nations of Turtle Island.
Blueberry Pie Crumbs deeply recognizes the strength of NA indigenous peoples, cultures, and Nations as OG stewards of Turtle Island before and throughout on-going Colonialism since time immemorial.
Steph, ARTIST/OWNER
DELICIOUS PIES, SWEET TREATS, & COOL ART!
Stephanie is a real, contemporary Celtic-Canadian storyteller/comprehensive artist and is now in her third year+ of running Blueberry Pie Crumbs. With a background in the Liberal Western Arts and Indigenous Studies from TRENTU (2009-2014), she created a unique artist name from within in a decolonial stream, and has been running a street style fairy-punk brand ever since- while also developing a VERY yummy and rustic dessert concept along the way!

Originally from Nogojiwanong near the Odenabe and Gidaaki, she once used a little bit of her student loan to stumble upon the cliffs of Moher after learning about on-going Colonialism, and then started off with a blog called "decolonizing the starving artist". Then, shortly after pointing out a major design flaw in sports tech at work, and having the word "Katha" come to mind while writing a short story on the side for a competition, she was wished publication and became admired for her work "tackling complex structural issues" by Penguin Random House Canada while living in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal in 2019 with a manuscript called, "From the Edge of my Canadian Dock". Then, while still surviving in a current system with complex structural issues and in the scratch one day, she realized and began Blueberry Pie Crumbs while living in Mi'kma'ki down East! Then, after starting to do a little independent, routine yoga not too long after to help with the stress of the complex structural abuse (she’s never been to a yoga class), to her shock and surprise she was first visited by two NA indigenous men in a dream from another time. A year later she was visited by an old, Celtic creation ancestor known as the Cailleach/Danu in a dark cave in a dream (...and she looked like a shapeshifting, alien nature spirit with rusty, sharp teeth (as if these teeth represent the earth's core herself!) or what might be known as a Neolithic Mother goddess version of the canniberry face she had already drawn up)! Then, she started creating a bakery after telling a local paper at a community yard sale event back home in Ontario she wanted to- and the rest is history as they say!
Blueberry Pie Crumbs was built from and suggests an embodiment of a naturally inherited, pre-Colonial, cyclical relationship to an ethnorelative, decolonial path and experience with the land, and so, resurgence and reclamation of cultural identity from within, in the creative, multi-cultural, and democratic landscape for that very practice! The Blueberry represents the Earth and is connected to historically complex lands and cultures, and the PIE crumbs represent these ingredients from the crust! The earth is constantly scavenging and recycling it’s own ingredients just like a floating, celestial bird! The PIE root for “ingredients” can mean to walk and enter…the root for “pie” can mean bird that collects ingredients (she didn’t know blue jays seeded oak trees before drawing her blue jay cartoon, and then had two acorns fall out of the bottom of a blue junk can right before going to draw her oak leaf cartoon years after those two dreams)! Long story short, that’s actually the land (ecological memory and law) (rooted in a specific stomping ground) structurally confirming cultural and creative identity and as a knower/seer of the oak! Did you know druids revered birds as mediums and oaks as ancestors?! This isn't just perspective, this is fragments of real storytelling as a real medium, a real Celtic-Canadian storyteller of the land. So, this isn't spirituality, myth, or cosplay either- this is ancestral strategy and ecological memory, interconnectedness, and reality (including cultural memory), initiation and rite of passage, and so, independent reasoning, and a very individual, mystical walk weaving modern Celtic migration and creation mythos, and a depth of lived knowledge in a non-religious framework between dreams and reality. Evidently, obligated to, and serving cultural practices (including preservation), creative infrastructure, and decolonial, economic development with her awen and something a little abstract!
She is the first and forever only woman in modern history to tell anthropomorphizing a wild, old, creation Grannie out of her hat giving some very old stone structures a run for their money! Undisputedly, she is also the first Canadian ever, and storyteller, to build an architectural monument to be able to tell a story confirming creative identity (and under a blue moon too!) as structural, ecological, and cultural law linked with real, climate resistance (that’s the land helping her to be ecologically resistant) (that’s HUGE)! In other words, unintentionally, she brought through a primordial Mother! The land can’t look after us if we do not look after the land! Did you know blueberries are connected to fairies and the otherworld because like earth (and a contemporary artist) blueberries grow in wild, untamed places too? With the help of water and sunlight, plants produce the air we breathe while making and eating their own food, which is sugar…which means dessert…yum!
Indeed, sometimes you lose your snacks and sometimes you find them again, and this kind of lore from the ancient times winds longer than television cartoons, and not just every day- just saying! When she’s not drawing cartoons she’s often in the design studio creating all sorts of things (…and also has a forthcoming book on the way!) or baking up a storm!
